This leather bag was created using laser cutting technology and traditional leather saddle stitches sewn by hand. The blend of contrasting techniques is similar to the contrast of the design, which is both soft in its overall form and rigid in its individual geometric pieces. My design process began with sketching and folding pieces of paper to explore possible structural shapes. After landing on a design, I transitioned to pattern making, flipping back and forth between Rhino and Illustrator. The final Illustrator file was used to cut the leather using Universal VLS 4.60 and Epilog Laser Fusion M2 laser cutters.
